- Players take turns placing a stone on a free point of the 15×15 board; black moves first.
- Get five or more stones in an unbroken line — across, down or diagonally — to win.
- Block your opponent's lines of three and four before they become five.
- If the board fills up without a line of five, the game is a draw.
